Wolverine 3 Director James Mangold Shares Title, Poster, Page of Script

October 7, 2016

What did we when we wanted updates on movies before the age of social media? Oh right, we waited for set visit interviews to run in major magazines and on websites, which most often wouldn’t run until the promotional window opened a few weeks before the film came out. Obviously times have changed.

Wolverine 3 director James Mangold has taken to Twitter to clue us in on his film’s title, poster (which reveals some interesting things), and, most surprisingly of all, a shot of the second page of the script. So without further ado, the title is…

Wolverine

Sweet and simple, and we like it, as we did the reveal of Ben Affleck’s title for his stand-alone Batman film, The Batman. (Actually, it would be pretty funny if they titled that film Bruce.) Anyway, the most striking thing about the poster itself is the child’s hand holding Logan/Wolverine’s. Then, on closer inspection, you see that ol’ Wolvy’s hand has, oddly, visible cuts and scars, which shouldn’t be possible considering his healing powers. Speculation on the internet on whose hand it is has landed on X-23, the female Wolverine that has been rumored to have a part in the film.

The last time we saw Wolverine was in his brief, wild scene in X-Men: Apocalypse. For a reminder of why he remains the most popular of all X-Men, watch him here:

Now, onto that page of the script that Mangold shared:

Wolverine Screenplay

“As for our hero, well, he’s older now and it’s clear his abilities aren’t what they once were.” Yup, looks like we’re getting some “Old Man Logan” action in Hugh Jackman’s last turn as everyone’s favorite clawed Canuck.

Logan slashes its way into theaters on March 3, 2017.
